Function Based Care Part 1 - Credit Hours: 1 Approval Valid Until N/A

This course is designed to instruct physicians on the basic principles of function based care. It will include a discussion on how to demonstrate medical necessity for function based care, how to perform physical capacity tests, and how to prescribe specific exercises related to the patient's ability to perform those tests.

Function Based Care Part 2 - Credit Hours: 1 Approval Valid Until N/A

Part 2 of Function Based Care picks up with Neuromuscular Re-education. In this course we will discuss the theory of this treatment as well as how to demonstrate medical necessity for these exercises. This course will also discuss stretching exercises and postural correction exercises.

Geriatric patients comprise 30-40% of a chiropractor’s patient base. Chiropractic care for geriatric patients demands innovative, interdisciplinary, and comprehensive approaches. This course provides an understanding of the chiropractic geriatric patient, communication techniques, innovative approaches to treatment planning, adjustment, and sustainable patient care. Chiropractors are in a great position to help with disease prevention, geriatric injuries, balance, minimizing dementia or pain, and providing a better overall patient care experience. Incorporating the caregiver in long-term planning is critical for sustainable geriatric care. Chronic comorbid conditions, arthritis, and Alzheimer’s disease need chiropractic techniques that will reduce the impact. Chiropractors can not only provide a valuable service for geriatric patients and their loved ones but enhance their overall patient services, revenue, and presence in their community. New studies show chiropractic spinal manipulation reduces falls for older adults, minimizes dementia, and reduces behavioral challenges due to Alzheimer’s. This course is the first in a series on chiropractic geriatric care.

Passive Care Modalities Part 1 will provide you with detailed instruction on symptom based care. This will include a discussion regarding thermal therapies and electric stimulation and TENS unit integration as an effective pain management tool.

Passive Care Modalities Part 2 - Credit Hours: 1 Approval Valid Until N/A

Passive Care Modalities Part 2 will provide you with detailed instruction on Ultrasound, Trigger Point Therapy and Spinal Traction.
