Chronic low back pain is a leading cause of disability worldwide. The principles for the management of this patient demographic will be reviewed in this course leading to immediate application of the information once the clinician returns to the office. Current research trends in lifestyle, nutrition, flexibility and stability exercises will be taught with a combination of didactic and hands on principles. Yellow flags and special consideration in approaching the chronic low back pain patient will also be discussed. First hour: Epidemiology of chronic low back pain .The neurology of pain sensation. Contrasting the Cartesian, neuro-matrix and neuroplasticity models of pain sensation and relating the impact the chiropractic adjustment to each Second hour: Special concerns and yellow flags in treating the chronic pain patient. Introduction to the Yellow Flag Risk Assessment and the significance of using a pain Journal.
