CHIROPRACTIC ETHICS - Credit Hours: 2 This course will discuss personal, business, and professional ethics as they relate to chiropractic. We will review the ACA and ICA Code of Ethics. The course will also discuss, in detail the Informed Consent Doctrine and the difference between an independent contractor and an employee. CHIROPRACTIC RISK MANAGEMENT RECORDKEEPING AND DOCUMENTATION - Credit Hours: 3 Hour 1 •Chiropractic evaluation and management •The new evaluation and management guidelines •Clinical decision-making vs time components Hour 2 •The most common chiropractic ICD-10 codes •Chiropractic manipulative therapy •Supervised & constant attendance modalities •Therapeutic procedures Hour 3 •Medicare chiropractic guidelines •P.A.R.T. examination •The new Medicare ABN form •OIG recommended policies and procedures •The basics of HIPAA for chiropractic •Chiropractic S.O.A.P. notes •Re-examinations Learning Objectives: 1) Identify the principal components of chiropractic compliance as it relates to recordkeeping, risk management, Medicare, and HIPAA. 2) Correlate the importance of medical necessity and how to identify potential errors in chiropractic patient records. 3) Understand the ICD-10 documentation requirements as it relates to chiropractic recordkeeping and risk management. DOCUMENTATION - Credit Hours: 2 This course will provide you with the basic principles of documentation to establish medical necessity for the treatments you provide for your patients. In today's healthcare environment more and more chiropractors are experiencing post payment audits. If an audit reveals that the medical necessity for the treatment was not supported in the notes, then the provider is required to refund the insurance company. This course will give you all the necessary forms and concepts to protect you from these audits. FLORIDA LAW AND RULES - Credit Hours: 2 The objectives of this course include: To comprehend Florida Board of Chiropractic Medicine Rules Chapter 64B2 and statutes 456 and 460 Employ Florida Board of Chiropractic Medicine Rules and Statute to your chiropractic practice Lessen possible risk exposures that may result in complaints by the public and/or actions being taken against you by the Chiropractic Board Engage in practice by per the Florida Board of Chiropractic Medicine Rules INSURANCE CODING - Credit Hours: 2 This is a 2-hour course designed to provide chiropractors with basic vital coding information for compliant billing. This course will focus on coding and documentation of Evaluation/Management, Chiropractic Manipulative Technique, Modalities, and Therapeutic procedures. MEDICAL ERRORS - Credit Hours: 2 To educate chiropractors and other healthcare providers with the information about Medical Errors. A medical error is defined as “the failure of a planned action to be completed as intended or the use of a wrong plan to achieve an aim”.
