CERVICOGENIC HEADACHES - Credit Hours: 2 Approval Valid Until {dc_course_5507_expires}Clinical This course reviews the clinical presentation of cervicogenic headache, proposed diagnostic criteria, pathophysiologic mechanisms, and methods of diagnostic evaluation. Guidelines for developing a successful multidisciplinary pain management program using medication, physical therapy, osteopathic manipulative treatment, other non pharmacologic modes of treatment, and anesthetic interventions are also presented. CONDITIONS OF THE DISC PART 1 - Credit Hours: 1 Approval Valid Until {dc_course_5510_expires}Clinical This course will begin with a detailed discussion on the functional anatomy of the disc. This will include disc innervation, disc nutrition and structural composition. The course will continue with a discussion on the basic interpretation of MRI. The discussion will then continue with a detailed analysis of disc herniations and normal disc aging. It will include a review of normal disc aging, a discussion on the differences between normal disc aging and degenerative disc disease, internal disc disruptions, and nerve in growth. FUNCTION BASED CARE PART 1 - Credit Hours: 1 Approval Valid Until {dc_course_5514_expires}Clinical This course is designed to instruct physicians on the basic principles of function based care. It will include a discussion on how to demonstrate medical necessity for function based care, how to perform physical capacity tests, and how to prescribe specific exercises related to the patient's ability to perform those tests. FUNCTION BASED CARE PART 2 - Credit Hours: 1 Approval Valid Until {dc_course_5515_expires}Clinical Part 2 of Function Based Care picks up with Neuromuscular Re-education. In this course we will discuss the theory of this treatment as well as how to demonstrate medical necessity for these exercises. This course will also discuss stretching exercises and postural correction exercises. MIGRAINE HEADACHES - Credit Hours: 2 Approval Valid Until {dc_course_5534_expires}Clinical This course will review the basic principles of the etiology of Migraine Headaches. We will also focus on the evaluation and treatment of patients suffering with this condition. PASSIVE CARE MODALITIES PART 1 - Credit Hours: 1 Approval Valid Until {dc_course_5521_expires}Clinical Passive Care Modalities Part 1 will provide you with detailed instruction on symptom based care. This will include a discussion regarding thermal therapies and electric stimulation and TENS unit integration as an effective pain management tool. PASSIVE CARE MODALITIES PART 2 - Credit Hours: 1 Approval Valid Until {dc_course_5522_expires}Clinical Passive Care Modalities Part 2 will provide you with detailed instruction on Ultrasound, Trigger Point Therapy and Spinal Traction. SPINAL DECOMPRESSION - Credit Hours: 1 Approval Valid Until {dc_course_5527_expires}Clinical This course will expose many of the lies and exaggerations that many of the decompression table manufacturers have been telling us. During this hour we will examine spinal decompression therapy through and objective review of the medical and chiropractic literature regarding its efficacy. SPINAL PAIN SYNDROMES - Credit Hours: 1 Approval Valid Until {dc_course_5528_expires}Clinical This course will present the clinical aspects of pain. You will learn about the differences between Sclerotogenous, Myofascial, Visceral and Neuropathic pain syndromes. This will include a review of the literature of Bogduk, Lord and Kuslich. TENSION TYPE HEADACHES - Credit Hours: 2 Approval Valid Until {dc_course_5529_expires}Clinical This course will review the basic principles of the etiology of tension type headaches. We will also focus on the evaluation and treatment of patients suffering with this condition. THE NEUROLOGY OF PAIN - Credit Hours: 1 Approval Valid Until {dc_course_5530_expires}Clinical This course will examine the neurological and physiological aspects of pain transmission and pain perception. Included in this discussion is an in depth analysis of the innate pain modulation systems that, when activated, will reduce a patient's perception of pain without medication.
